Frequently Asked Questions
What Exactly is Managed Network Services?
- The old way of doing IT support on your computer network involved a little bit of maintenance (ie. patching) and then waiting for things to break. Once the problem surfaced, users were affected and either the tasks they performed (ie. their job duties) could not be done or could be done slowly and with workarounds. Network management is now a science and through thorough monitoring, most problems can be detected long before they pose issues to end users. This allows any repairs or upgrades to be performed after hours or on weekends, or whenever users are least likely to be affected.

I keep seeing 'Guaranteed Networks' references throughout your site. What is Guaranteed Networks and how can it help my network?
- Guaranteed Networks is the family of service products which SLPowers offers which are part of our core Managed Services support options. Guaranteed Networks is a program designed for Small and Mid Sized business which manages all or part of the network.
- The choice of three levels of GN is based on your needs. All are flat fee plans and are based on the size of your network. The entry level option is monitoring only where we alert your staff to issues that need to be addressed and they address them. The second option upgrades monitoring to actually fixing the alerts generated by monitoring. This is all done remotely. In the even an on-site person is needed, those services are perfomed on an a la carte basis either by SLP staff or a qualified third party under the supervision of SLPowers. The third option includes full onsite support as well, so for those rare occasions when an onsite person is absolutely needed, those needs are included in the monthly price.

We already have an IT person or department. Why should I choose SLPowers for my
IT support?
Many of our larger clients ask this question thinking they've got all their bases covered. There are two compelling reasons why you need us. One reason is economics and the other is knowledge. First, most companies who have IT staffs have people sitting around with nothing to do much of the time. This is an incredible waste of resources, and we find that many did not ever need a full time IT staff in the first place. You can expect to save approximately 30% of your IT labor budget by choosing a Guaranteed Networks plan. Also, SLPowers has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in the cutting edge tools that we use for monitoring and remediation. Many companies simply do not have the budget to purchase the tools they need. In addition to labor savings, your company leverages our cutting edge technology to stabilize and optimize your network.
Second, our staff of 20+ engineers is second to none as far as skillsets go. We have experience with all technologies you are ever likely to encounter and we have a high end project management staff who can tackle the toughest challenges.

In terms of network upkeep, is remote support enough?
We have several clients who we've never met in person! From a develpment company in Puerto Rico to an investment company in California, we support many offices which just don't require an onsite presence very often. We have the remote support methodology mastered and we can support you too, as long as you have an internet connection! Because over 90% of what we do can be done remotely with no on-site intervention, our all remote plan is the plan of choice for many of our clients. In those rare instances where we need onsite hands, one of the following options is used: if there is a specified employee who can do very basic IT tasks, we use that person. Where there are no technical people, we contract with other Microsoft Gold Partners in the local area to lend us a hand. In those instances, once Microsoft makes the introduction, we prepay a retainer which we use at our discretion. For clients in our local service areas of South Florida and Atlanta, we offer this on-site component as an option and handle it ourselves. When it comes time to do a network upgrade, we send our engineer to your site to ensure that there are no issues.

Can I afford SLPowers’ services?
How much productivity is lost when your system goes down? It’s
an easy answer, really. Take the time lost and multiply that by
the hourly wage of everyone who is affected. Many computer network applications grind
to a halt on a weekly or monthly basis because the servers they reside on are not maintained properly, leaving pockets of downtime with employees
sitting at their desks waiting for a critical application to come back up. How much is it worth to have your systems up and running
smoothly?
